PCD and over 120 people from Minnesota converged on the Holy Land for a 7-day journey. We will never be the same.

We wanted not to pass through these sacred places, we wanted the sacred places to pass through us. And they did.

None of us had ever been to the place where Jesus was born; The place where the names of the cities and the people that learned about in Sunday School. Yet there we were.

We led worship from a boat in the middle of the Sea of Galilee. We led worship from the southern steps going to the entrance of the Temple where Jesus walked. We led worship in Golgotha- looking right at the tomb where Jesus was buried and rose again!

We have sung our songs in many places all over the world, but never has anything been more impacting than worshipping in Israel. Songs like “Crucified with Christ” – looking at Golgotha; “Mercy Came Running”- from the steps leading up to the Temple where sacrifices were performed to cleanse sins. Then singing hymns like “Spirit of the Living God, fall fresh on us” standing in the Upper Room. It was just so emotional and life changing.

Some things you do for the money. Some things you do out of obligation, responsibility or a sense of nobility. But some things you do simply because you love-love-LOVE it. You can’t imagine not doing it. It’s the joyous gift God has put in your heart that makes passionate living possible.

For Randy Phillips, Shawn Craig and Dan Dean—Phillips, Craig & Dean—that thing is ministry through music. More succinctly put: These guys love-love-LOVE to sing about God. And way beyond the 10 albums, 18 No.1 singles and 2 million+ records sold in the past 16 years, the story of God’s grace in their lives just keeps getting bigger. Phillips, Craig and Dean feel strongly that we must encourage the leaders of the future and have set aside funds from every concert to provide scholarship moneys to students with the desire to earn a degree in music ministry and related fields. Together, the Sparrow Foundation and PC&D have established scholarship endowment at two leading Christian Universities: Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee and Taylor University in Upland, Indiana.
